We work closely with our client Blackmore, one of the most environmentally-friendly printers in the UK, to provide them with marketing and PR support. As part of this support, we helped them with their awards submission, which helped them become winners of the Environmental Impact award at the Dorset Business Awards. Blackmore did all the hard work by putting a whole host of measures in place to limit any impact on the environment. This is something they are passionate about and is instilled throughout their business. Therefore, we needed to encapsulate all their hard work and present it in an awards submission. Additionally, the submission needed to fulfill the awards criteria whilst, above all, getting across Blackmore’s commitment to supporting the wider environment.
Awards Submission Creation
As an example, Blackmore has taken these steps to limit its impact on the environment:
- Committing to achieving net-zero this decade, sending zero to landfill and recycling its printing waste
- Becoming a Carbon Balanced Printer, in partnership with World Land Trust (only 1% of printers in the UK have been given this status)
- Powering all its print projects with 100% renewable sources including hydro, wind, solar, biomass and landfill gas (including Blackmore’s own solar power panels)
- Investing over £3 million in the latest energy-efficient technology and presses
- Switching all its fleet of cars to electric
- Offering a free greener print consultation service to its customers, providing advice on how to reduce any impact on the environment with their print projects
- Operating to the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (Blackmore was one of the first printers in the UK to operate within this system)
Awards Submission Win
Blackmore was up against tough competition, being initially selected as one of three finalists in the Environmental Impact award category along with Suttles and Charles Trent Ltd. Then Blackmore and Mushroom Marketing & PR joined over 200 people in attending the Dorset Business Awards ceremony to find out that Blackmore were announced the winners!

Andrew Robbins from Blackmore giving his award win speech
Andrew Robbins, Managing Director at Blackmore, said “The awards celebrated some of the amazing work created by Dorset businesses and we were delighted to share the evening with them. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the evening and for Dorset Chamber for organising such a sparkling evening.”
Emma Estridge, Director at Mushroom Marketing & PR said “We are delighted that our client Blackmore came away as winners of the Environmental Impact award at the Dorset Business Awards. They thoroughly deserve the accolade as I have seen first hand how they look to minimise their impact on the environment from every angle of the business. Not only has the win boosted their environmental credentials; it has also increased their awareness to 100s of businesses, as well as helping to generate new business.”
